Strong adhesive / assembly 1K PU

Use

For bonding corner joints in aluminum windows and doors. UNI-ALU is an ideal mounting and adhesive sealant for the manufacturing of aluminum windows and doors. Suitable for various industrial applications.

Instructions for use

Preparation:

Allow the product to acclimatize before processing. The surfaces to be bonded must be dry, clean, dust-free, and grease-free. Check if sanding or priming the substrate improves the adhesive bond, depending on the material surface. Polyolefins (e.g., PE, PP) cannot be bonded. For corrosion protection and sealing of, for example, miter joints and butt joints in aluminum fabrication, apply the corrosion kit MTSEAL to the bare aluminum cutting edges before bonding the parts.

Bonding:

The adhesive is applied unilaterally to one of the substrates in bead form. To bond non-absorbent materials (moisture content

Bonding of metals:

Bonding of aluminum, copper, and brass: Only on chemically pretreated or painted surfaces, as these materials cannot be permanently and aging-resistant bonded before the substrates have undergone the proper pretreatment. Due to the stubborn structure of aluminum surfaces, we recommend gathering sufficient information from the supplier to carry out pretreatments for optimal bonding. Preliminary tests are necessary. Due to their diversity, age, and additional treatment with oil or wax, anodized surfaces do not allow a general statement regarding wetting or bonding strength. In the production and processing of stainless steel, tools such as washing, oiling, etc., are often used, which generally cannot be easily wiped off during cleaning. It has been shown that after cleaning with a solvent, followed by sanding, better sandblasting of the surface and repeated cleaning with a solvent significantly improves adhesive residues.

General Information:

The bonded parts should only be painted once the adhesive has fully cured; otherwise, blisters may form in the paint layer. If the adhesive joints/adhesive surfaces remain exposed to moisture, they must be sealed with an appropriate sealing kit. When bonding materials with different linear expansions, the long-term behavior of the material, especially under stress in areas with fluctuating temperatures, should be evaluated. The color of the cured adhesive may change due to UV exposure, but the strength of the adhesive bond remains intact! The viscosity of 1-K-PUR adhesive is twice as high at +15°C during processing compared to +25°C. Best production should occur at a stable temperature. Skin formation times, joint times, required pressing times, and processing times can only be determined precisely through internal testing. These times are influenced by factors such as material, temperature, dosing quantity, humidity, material moisture, adhesive layer thickness, pressing pressure, etc. The processor must consider safety margins for the provided reference values. Caution: the product cures with humidity.

Cleaning:

Fresh adhesive that has not yet cured can be removed with MTCLEANER from the surfaces and processing equipment. Cured adhesive can only be removed mechanically.

Storage:

Store the original unopened packaging in a dry place at temperatures between +15°C and +25°C. Keep away from direct sunlight. The product may be exposed to temperatures between -30°C and +35°C during usual transport times. Storage in unopened, original packaging is 12 months. During the storage period, viscosity increases, and reactivity decreases.

Important Notes:

The product must be used by trained personnel in specialized companies! Our usage instructions, processing guidelines, product and performance data, and other technical documentation are general guidelines. They describe only the nature of our products (display and determination of values for the production time) and performance and do not offer any guarantee under §443 BGB. Due to the variety of application possibilities of the product and the different specific conditions (e.g., processing parameters, material properties, etc.), the user is required to carry out their own tests. Our free technical advice in writing and verbally is non-binding. Also, consider the safety data sheets.
